Speed dating is a formalized matchmaking process which has the purpose of encouraging eligible singles to meet large numbers of new potential partners in a very short period of time. SpeedDating , as a single word, is a registered trademark of Aish HaTorah. Speed dating , as two separate words, is often used as a generic term for similar events. The earliest documented example of speed dating was by Aryeh Alan and Rena Hirsch of Los Angeles in early who developed speed dating as a solution to the problem of typical single events where “only attractive women and outgoing men have success at the end of the evening”.
Usually advance registration is required for speed dating events. Men and women are rotated to meet each other over a series of short “dates” usually lasting from three to eight minutes depending on the organization running the event.

Making that great first impression is important; but when about 70 percent of what you say is unsaid, you should know your body language speaks louder than words. We like people who are like us. This means if they dress like us, speak like us, and have similar mannerisms, we automatically assume they have the same level of education, social background, even similar values.
There is a type of behavior called mimicry. Good eye contact is incredibly important on a date. It shows that you are listening and you take notice of their presence. Eye contact also signals to your date that you are trustworthy person. The waiter looked at me as I started talking, then glanced over in the middle of my request at another table.
It was a brief interaction as he cleared the table, but the moment he looked away, I instantly felt like he was not paying attention to what I said. Good eye contact is the first step to this. You definitely do not want to be doing the latter.

By Sam Blanchard For Mailonline. The ‘spark’ people feel when meeting someone with relationship potential could be a real biological experience, a study has suggested. Researchers who measured people’s vital signs when they met people in a speed-dating situation found their heart rates and sweating synchronised in some cases. They said watching someone’s body language was not a reliable indicator of whether they were attracted to the other person.
But their heart rate told a different story, and the more the couple’s pulses matched up while they were together the more likely they were to hit it off. The researchers found that, although typically thought of as tell-tale signs, body language such as eye contact and touching was not a reliable indicator of whether people would say they fancied each other or not stock image.
Scientists from Leiden University in the Netherlands tested their theory on people at a music festival, the New Scientist reported. They set up a walk-up cabin where people were brought together in a makeshift speed-dating situation in which they could spend two minutes looking at their partner and another two minutes talking to them. During this time they wore sensors which measured their heart rates and the conductivity of their skin — a measure of how well it could transmit electricity.
They also wore glasses which tracked where their eyes looked and had all their body movements recorded. The participants were asked at the end of the meeting whether they would like to go on a real date and what they thought the other person would say to that question. Only 16 per cent of the couples — who were all straight — both said they would like to go on a date, so the scientists gave them each other’s phone numbers.
Men were more likely to say yes — 53 per cent of them said they would go on a date but only 34 per cent of women did.
